See the entire sky for context and a close view of the cloud at the same time. Decide every cloud type the image could reasonably show.

Look wide, then inspect the details.

  • Every scene keeps the horizon visible so apparent height, scale, and weather context are not lost.
  • Each question pairs the complete scene with a magnified view of the cloud being classified.
  • Select every reasonable label. Some questions have one accepted answer; intentionally ambiguous transition cases have two.
  • A question is correct only when the selected set exactly matches the accepted set—no missed labels and no extra guesses.

Training images—not live weather observations

The original scenes in this activity were generated specifically for visual-recognition practice and then individually reviewed and classified. Real clouds evolve continuously, viewing angle changes their appearance, and a still image may not provide cloud-base height or motion. That is why selected transition cases accept more than one label.
